Wow! awesome work so far mate I also say Good luck...I personally have always had an issue with how this ship appears on-screen in ST movies vs CGI models of her. I dunno if something gets lost in the translation or if it's just the camera, as the cgi always seems "off" in proportions or the aforementioned camera angles. Also a bit off topic (sorry), but I also wonder why other than the studio model, that mass market scale models seem to have the same issues. Again, amazing so far

I know the miniature was supposed to look more advanced than the Enterprise refit in STIII, but I always thought it looked ugly in the movie. The FASA Ship Recognition Manual pics gave it a better look, but the mini looks off still compared to those! It was only when we got a few shots of the mini in TNG that I started to like the design. Nice start, JAFisher44. Can't wait to see your finished model.

So, I was working on the saucer a little and realized I had put the grid lines slightly off center on the top of the saucer. I had to remove them all and redo them and all of the details that were aligned to them. What a pain in the ass. The results probably aren't even noticeable but I can't leave stuff like that cause I'll know every time I look at it.

NX-2000 Excelsior, NCC-2000 Excelsior, or NCC-1701-B Excelsior?
NCC-2000 is my second favorite Starfleet ship (after 1701 refit). Looking forward to seeing you work.

If you like the ship as much as you claim you should be able to tell me what version I am making.

Saucer is done except for one detail.

I finished the last detail. I couldn't find a reference pic of that one area and it was driving me nuts. I finally found it and finished the saucer. I'm not bothering to post an updated render. Any guesses as to what it is?

Any guesses as to what it is? I'd forgotten about the difference between the NX-2000 and NCC-2000 versions that allowed you to tell them apart other than the registry number (the bridge module for one, right?), but don't know what you now might be referring to.

I think I'll do the nacelles next. I'm not looking forward to the secondary hull. The shape is tricky.

As I've said before, I can't do 2D schematics in the style of the FASA Recognition Manuals on computer. So I am in awe you are doing it in 3D!

Ironically I started doing 3D ships because I couldn't visualize how a detail on on of my ships would look in a 3 way schematic so I built it in 3D so I could look at it from the different angles.
