I enjoy the FASA Trek universe. It happens to be my favorite timeline. They made since of a lot of things. They brought a consistent timeline together. It was a shame they lost the license. These write ups come from a lot of reading and thinking. Trying to piece together reasons for each class of ship based on its stats and write ups, and studying the modules for the game. I also added information. on Franz Joseph material just because i love it, and it does fit into the FASA world very well I have always enjoyed the hobby Yes, Cowboy, thank you for that concise, experienced and highly detailed extrapolation. It was fun to read. One can easily see that you have a real love for FASA's unique vision of Star Trek and those exciting periods we all waited in between films, just as TNG was dawning. I was fascinated by both the Excelsior and the Constellation classes. It was FASA who provided me with "proof" of their reality. I found that it was my own imagination that, combined with FASA's kick ass game and excellent work, and my own fascination- became a breeding ground for limitless possibilities during those times. Especially starship design! To say nothing of the battles! Well written.

I do have a question about the "Indomitable" class starships. I see this class originally appeared in the Jaynz files of "Stardate" magazine at the time.
Is the graphic schematic of the ship we see on the "other" (Brad's) site exactly how it appeared when it was published back then? Or has it been polished up or otherwise reworked a bit? Curious. I was not privy to Stardate magazine in those days unfortunately, being in a very rual area of Texas as a teen.
I ask because having given the ship a look, I see details that could not have existed circa 1985-1990-ish. The nacelles and redesigned Excelsior engines for example, as well as the huge impulse decks. Those designs did not come around until 1994 and were specifically created for the refit Excelsior "Enterprise B" in "Star Trek: Generations"
To my mind, the overall aesthetic of this class is rather "proto-Sovereign" Ala' "First Contact." Does anyone else see the similarity?

**Please disregard my questions above about the redraw of the " Indomitable" class** It really helps to actually read what Brad has written about each ship. ( I usually have in the past, but for some reason totally forgot to here. )

What I do want to know is who had access to Stardate magazine, and where did you get it back then? (1985-1990)

Yeah, a Class XI Destroyer. Yes, a Class XI destroyer armed with a cruiser armament in comparison with the FASA ships. That is why I have it listed in the history as basically a sheep in wolf's clothing.....a destroyer in name only! ...In the Starship Tactical Combat Simulator Design Consortium, they tended to overgun Destroyers, sometimes to good effect.

Interesting, and I saw the Indomitable and Charger, and less distorted cousin of technobabble (buzzword generator), and that's all interesting, good meaty tech and hierarchy, like with most other FASA Ships, I eventually created ships with similarly deep, illustrious historie. Hey, let's have some more discussion there, the Silverstrike Mining Scout and Swift Solaria were okay, some bits above sometimes due to fluctuating variables), and I restored the Wizard, which should help you.
