Anyone had any luck DIY on 3-D printing or found an outlet that's reliable? Thanks. Have you had reliability problems with a 3D printing service, or are you having problems yourself with a home printer? I don't have a home printer. I've bought some ships from Shapeways in the past (EDIT: with no problems), have a look back to page 6 of this thread to see a couple of the basic low resolution models compared to pewter FASA/Citadel minis. You've probably got to be a bit more careful with Shapeway models compared to pewter minis. (EDIT: I tend to stick to a price limit similar to what FASA minis were back in the day. Yes, inflation and all that, but I stick to sensible prices, about £7-8 (UK Pounds) for a FASA 1/3900 cruiser is an example, whereas I've seen some Shapeway shops having cruisers at £15-20! Sometimes you get lucky, and people are selling ships in packs, which bring the price down a bit. More ships on the same printing box(?) run on a Shapeways printer saves you a bit). Also, on this same subboard, there's captainmojo s thread on Thingverse files, which, if I'm not mistaken, are available for home use. This thread shows his FASA and other related starship pics... ststcsolda.proboards.com/thread/1643/captain-mojo-thingiverse-kitsIf anyone else has advice for lcdrrostron , please feel free to post here about it. Thanks for all this. I was looking for a good supplier of some of the less common designs of ships. I hadn't purchased anything from Shapeways and may have to try them. Like you I'm trying to keep the cost down, but it sure would be fun to pull out an Andor-class as a surprise, just to see the looks on the players faces! Although I work in tech, 3-D printing is just not going to fit in my office for now! Cheers!
