Can I ask which is the best software for using these fantastic kit packs? Always wanted to have a go but have no idea where to begin?

Thanks for that, I will give it a go. Is there a tutorial or is quite straightforward? I don't have a lot of free time at the moment so don't want to spend it and have nothing to show for my efforts!!
OK so I've installed paint.net and its running, however when I try to open any of the tool kit pages I have taken from here (right click "save as") I get "There was an error opening this file" message. What am I doing wrong?

ALL the files or just the ones you happened to try? Do they have the same extension?
