My love of this game is multi-faceted (FASA-ted?) and runs very deep. I started when I was 13 years old with the purchase of the first edition role play rules, followed quickly by two miniatures, the original series AND the movie version of the U.S.S. Enterprise. I now have quite the collection of original FASA (from the various manufacturers they used) minis as well as reproductions from Protowarfare, some of which can be seen in this thread... ststcsolda.proboards.com/thread/607/introducing-latest-mini-fleet...and of course, a collection of minis re-purposed from other games and some kitbashed and even scratch built. But here, I want everyone to showcase their minis free from criticism. Post pics of your fleet and share. Enjoy. theSwede

To get the ball rolling, here's a favorite of my facebook page. It's four of my Romulan T-10 destroyers in a staggered diamond formation. My original T-10's started out with bright colours. Some were quite garish actually. As time went on and I moved from Testors enamels to Tamaya acrylics, my later ones began to see more subdued hues. The one on the bottom left is a repaint of an earlier one that had these horrible neon pastel colours that were popular in the 80s. It was a really poor paint job on top of it all. I took a lot of ribbing for painting it that way and it was the butt of many a joke.

This next one, also a favorite of my facebook page, is of four V-7s escorting a Z-1. It represents my lack of unity in most of my fleet paint jobs. The bottom right is my first V-7, still wearing it's original Testors coat of purples. When I switched to Tamaya, the paint job got a little crisper, as seen in the V-7 just above it. The lower left one is missing it's wing guns. It was bought on ebay and they were missing when I got it. I've had to replace the wing guns on ships before, but I haven't done it yet on this one. I just call it the missile boat variant. The Z-1, which I will highlight at another time, is one of my favorites.

I feel I should refrain from hogging this thread as I already have a thread with pics of my minis.
But looking forward to seeing more of yours, swede, and others as well.

While not as glamorous or inspiring as the frigates and cruisers we like to play, these have been the focal point of many a mission. Surprisingly, I only have three of these. For your viewing enjoyment, I present the exceptionally mundane 18 wheeler of the space lanes, the Monarch freighter. Now anyone who has played a pirate on a budget knows just how hard it is to knock out one of these, what with their 16 point shields. It's a good thing they are slow and unarmed (in most versions) because you really need to get into an unshielded side in order to open up this tin can.

For some reason the Monarch's always make me laugh from their design! Ever since I first saw ST3 I have no clue why!

Because they don't look like they're hauling anything. Because they're mostly 4 engines, makes no sense. Because they have NO weapons?!? SERIOUSLY?!?

The Monarch on screen is not an 'eighteen wheeler' as swede said above, more of a Winnebago! It's TINY. Both the shot of the Klingon Bird of Prey decloaking above it, and the shot from above as it flies off before turning and destroying the freighter show a ship that is dwarfed by Kruge's ship. Plus a shot of the bridge shows cargo, behind netting, ON THE BRIDGE! This is the movie version of what Cyrano Jones or Harry Mudd flew in TOS! The mini is probably twice as long, if not more than what the movie shows. HOWEVER, if you use the mini as a larger freighter, in scale to the other FASA minis, it makes more sense as a 'eighteen wheeler'! It's a nicely detailed mini as well, despite the odd design, as swedes picture shows. Gorn, have a look at what our group used as an armed version of this vessel here (post 2)... linkYMMV! Mark

Perhaps "Transport truck" would have been more appropriate that 18 wheeler, but when you only get a 7/1 movement point ratio and only 38 power to raise shields and move, you get the picture. Having driven the big rigs myself, I can't imagine the Monarch handles any better. But you are correct, though. The Ptolemy Class would be more akin to an 18 wheeler in visible comparison. Good day.

@ swede Didn't mean to sound like I was having a dig. When you said 'eighteen wheeler', here in the UK I see the front cab and first trailer only on that four trailer rig in the desert below. I meant that compared to that, the Monarch we see on screen is like a pickup truck or station wagon in comparison! By the way, that rig is BIG. Sure does look like a land bound version of the Ptolemy class Tug! Very cool pic! Mark

May I say that is, nonetheless, an impressive picture of an equally impressive Romulan capital ship patrol. Applause!

Hello. Back with some more miniature madness. This time it's some of the Federation's heavy hitters. Two Excelsiors and a kitbash of an Excelsior mini that sort of resembles the Centaur, though I think mine predates that ship. This is a drama shot of my first Excelsior. One of the first ten minis I purchased (number five or six, I believe), it's seen many battles, both on the map and with the glue bottle. One of the engines is slightly off and as you can see it has had a stand transplant. That old Testors white paint sure does yellow over time, so its been tidied up a bit. The next two shots of are an intricate but simple cut and paste job that sees the secondary hull reduced in bulk and those big Excelsior nacelles mounted up side down. I refer to it as the Ozark class, a class XIII work horse meant to supplement the Excelsior. I've posted it on the site before, complete with stats. Now I'm not exactly sure of the time line, but I think I cobbled this up before the introduction of the Centaur. They kind of look familiar, at least to me. The following three shots show the Ozark and my two Excelsiors in various action shots on my big vinyl hex map, another one of my prized possessions. As you can see, I'm a little more uniform with my Federation fleet. Everything is a basic white with the operational parts highlighted in the appropriate colour. I've thought of re-examining some of the paint jobs and adding the bits of colour to the hull, like the light blues and greys, but I haven't got around to it and I'm not sure if I should.

I've posted more minis on my Facebook page, but here is the latest series I posted since it ties in with another recent post. I was quite pleased to get the Ambassador (canonical version, not FASA's) miniature from darkrazor. the ship looks beautiful and reminds me of the original Constitution in many ways. If those warp nacelle mounts were connected to the secondary hull at an angle instead of straight, flat out, it would be very, very similar (and a whole lot sexier.... did I say that out loud?) I only have the one, and probably won't purchase another. Like I've said before, it's just a little too modern for what I have been playing, however the temptation is there. theSwede.

The Ambassador looks very nice. NASA white would probably be taken into the future if the USA is a big part of the move into space. And white just makes sense since it reflects infrared radiation.

It's been a while since I posted any miniature pictures here, so I think I'll restart with the iconic Klingon ship, the D-7. This ship, designed by Matt Jefferies, was meant to mimic the form of a manta-ray. A triumphant design, the D-7 set the pattern for all future Klingon ships, even the Bird of Prey classes seem to follow the basic design doctrine of a forward command section and a larger main hull trailing behind. Here are five of my D-7s in various formations. The larger grey mini is from darkrazor and has been re-scaled to look closer to the K't'inga from the movies. These also double as my Romulan V-11s, so there isn't a uniform colour scheme. theSwede

Hello again. It's been a long while since I posted pictures here. I've been doing it semi-regularly on my own Facebook site, but alas I have neglected those who do not subscribe to the drug that is social networking. So I'm posting a few in a large group, just for you to ogle over the holiday season. Cheers. These three pics are of my five Constitution Class ships, one of which wears the marks of the Imperial fleet from the mirror universe. One is an original FASA mini, one is an original Starfleet Battles mini, the other three I picked up from Game Science. The decals are from JupiterIV.

These three were from a theoreticallized battle for the Argellian Approaches, fought during the latter part of the Four Years War. The book states that some of the Klingon ships were so badly damaged that they flew into battle backwards because their front deflectors hadn't been repaired or replaced.
