Excellent! Glad to see you decided to work on that. It's a quad nacelle design that I like and those are rare (MacrossMartin's dreadnought being the other). Can't wait to see the finished model.

I enjoy the compromises that are forced when using dreadnoughts. I would love to see you do one of the Refitted Federation class ships.
Dreadnoughts seem to usually be over gunned and pure warships....By its nature the Federation class designed by Franz Joseph and interpreted by Vintage Starships produces an interesting ship that you still have to pay attention to the compromises in naval architecture.

Sweet! Will you be uploading it over on the sketchfab warehouse like your other designs? I'd love to make an STA ship sheet with your model like I did the Pioneer and others.

Wasnt' a dreadnought battleship guns on a cruiser hull? If I recall that played a huge part in the hunt for the bismark.

I believe you're referring to a battlecruiser in 20th century naval terms (battleship armament on a less armored hull with cruiser speeds). Dreadnought came into the parlance as a revolutionary type of battleship in the early 1900's that didn't sacrifice armor for the massive uptick in armament IIRC. Apologies if you're asking within the trek universe rather than naval stuff.

HMS Dreadnought - 1906. First all-big-gun Battleship. In truth, it was the change to steam turbines that was the most radical feature. All previous Battleships were fitted with various reciprocating steam engines (triple-expansion, simple or compound etc...).
Dreadnought was about 3 knots faster than typical Battleships. The unified 12" armament made spotting the fall of shot for simple optical ranging much more reliable. The armor wasn't superb - and the main belt was too low when fully loaded. The anti-torpedo boat weapons were too light as well - only 12 pounders (aka 3" guns).
A Battlecruiser - in British terms - was a Dreadnought Armored Cruiser. In German terms - it was a faster light Battleship. This helps explain the results at Jutland in 1916 where 3 British Battlecruisers literally blew up. The only German Battlecruiser lost was simply too beat up to make it home. They scuttled her to avoid her capture.
I've always had some issues with terminology in Star Trek - particularly in the fandom world.
In a lot of Sci-Fi, the usage of traditional naval terms and ratings has been screwed up badly.

Dreadnoughts are a compromise design in Joseph Franz and FASA verse, what are the compromises on this ship. she looks more to me as a true battleship, I will be interested in the compromises that are to be made with this design. If i like those compromises I may use the art work with permission of course to create counters for the computer version of the game.
Let me see what we got!!!!

For the record. I've called it a dreadnought because that is what STO called it.

Sitzkrieg, the shots here and the model I originally uploaded were accidently done with a version that wasn't complete. The detail on the clamshell doors and the landing lights are missing. You may want to re-download it if you got the first version.
