I have been reading the Star Trek Year Five comics. They are actually pretty good. There are some bits of weirdness (nothing outside of normal TOS inconsistencies). The only thing I found annoying was how Uhura addressed the Tholian child. She does not know if it is "he" or "she", so one of Star Fleet's finest linguists (they call her that in the book) calls it "They" or "Them"... which is plural. The first few times I read that, I thought she was talking about a collective or symbiotic species. Nope, she was just being PC. No rant though. The book is good enough to overlook a little micro-wokeness.
Aside from that, it's TOS.
It also introduced an interesting new Tholian Weapon, but you'll have to go by the book to find out (if you can even by comics anymore).

I've heard that these were pretty good but, they aren't easy to find (I prefer to buy from actual stores, when possible).

I managed to purchase my copy from a real comic book store about a week before everything shut down. Hopefully they will still be in business when this is over so I can get the rest of the books from them.
Now I am reading the Ringworld on Kindle. It's a really good adaptation so far.
