updates.io9.com/post/34653322811/newly-merged-disney-lucasfilm-plans-new-star-wars-filmsGeorge Lucas: "For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed thatStar Warscould live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization,Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products."

What? You couldn't handle a "Death Star" theme park? Or "Tatooine, The Experience" thrill ride where you are put in the cockpit of a pod racer and whipped around a track at breakneck speed? Oh, how about an underwater ride called "The Plaaaanet Corre" where you take a submarine ride through the ocean of Naboo and get almost eaten by a bigger fish? Then there is the marketing aspect. Death Star lunch.....um...spheres? I'm telling ya, it's great time to be nerdcore. ;D

star wars ... the next generation .... rebirth of the jedi
could focus on the possible children of lea and han being taught the ways of the force by uncle luke .... since all 3 main actors are still alive they could presumably play the older parent/uncle rolls while main focus is on the kids and such

Yeah, and maybe Disney will let them finally cash in on thier likenesses when they make the merchandise.

I'm feeling positive. Star Wars is a fairytale, and no one does fairytales better than Disney. They have made some errors, but no one can err as badly as George Lucas himself.
I liked John Carter, and think a big reason behind the floptude had more to do with marketing than anything else, kind of like their other flops. (We're Disney. Let's have a cute robot all the kids can identify with. Oh, and let's also have Anthony Perkins' character get a giant eggbeater shoved through him. Better get that voice coach working on that dying gargle.)
Only bad thing is that the Mouse is more protective of his stuff than Viacom ever dreamed of. If you're going to make that Star Wars fan film, better hurry.

Disney is surrrre going to make a way better job than JJIdiotrams.
I think Star Wars is going to just be more of the TV anime of clone wars. Which I didn't watch beyond a few episodes when I saw how ludicrous it was.

As pointed out on another forum, you do realize that this makes Leia a Disney Princess?

Disney can't do any worse than Lucasfilm did. Totally. The "films" did well when Lucas wasn't micro-managing them.

Which I didn't watch beyond a few episodes when I saw how ludicrous it was. Clone Wars is actually a pretty good series considering its a cartoon. The animation has improved in just the right areas and the stories are well done. Also I think the fact Lucas isn't directly steering this one helps to.

Sorry man - the stuff with Dooku teaming up with Obi-Wan and Anakin? Nope. Turned it off right there.
Also totally wrecks Dooku's line in RotS: "I've been looking forward to this."

Perhaps it's an alternate timeline where a disgruntled Jedi comes back in time looking for Spock...... ...No, wait!....Isn't that the ludicris plot of another movie? I agree.

Gahh... they have draged StarWars out for way to long now, Star Wars has been milked dry by these companys and frankly I am getting sick of them.
Its like the Pokemon series(s). Eventually it got (for me) redundant and it seemed that the writers were strugling to get something 'new' out. And im sorry to say it has happened to star wars was well.
