Its hard to believe that today marks the 10th anniversary of the loss of the Space Shuttle orbiter Columbia.
Like other major events in our recent past (Challenger, 9/11, the twin Kennedy assassinations and of Martin Luther King, Jr) they seem all the worse due to their suddeness, even amongst all the other sad events in the world today.
Makes you wonder how we made it this far as a species.
Please take a moment in your day to remember all who lost their lives in those tragic events.

Heroes - every astronaut! The crews of both shuttles even more so because they paid the ultimate price in exploring space for us all!

Rest well pilots. For you have not died in vien, you died bringing Humankind one inch closer to exploring the Galaxy.

My Dad passed away a year to the day after Columbia fell to Earth.
