The Macro Tardigrade was a cute contemporary touch, if entirely stupid. But the rest, including Amanda reading Alice to a chick named Michael and Spock?
Get the fuck out. Seriously, Undiscovered. Get the fuck out of Trek. You're just pathetic.

▲▲▲ What he said. To borrow the scientific term from Gorn ; Discovery is "BULLSHIT".

Yep - "pathetic" is actually inadequate this time...

Orville is surprisingly engaging and interesting. I laughed my ass off at the Rob Lowe episode! It was hilarious as well as incorporating true Star Trek for our time!

Seems to be on course to being far superior to Disco.

Actually The Orville is not GREAT, it's just pretty good. I enjoyed Dark Matter more than I am enjoying The Orville. It's just that Discovery sucks so BAD! I like The Orville; it's different and fun, and stumbles through morality tales well enough, but there are other (cancelled) works that outshine it.

It's funny that he calls "TNG, DS9, and VOY" CLASSIC TREK.

A couple of weeks back, I got to see the first six episodes of Discovery.
While I want to see where they are going with the story, the mental gymnastics the writers will have to come up with too reconcile this with Prime timeline TOS is unobtainable in my eyes. And optimistic these characters and the story aren't!
So if I get to see more, I'll watch it as a parallel timeline (from the TNG episode) about "eight to ten timelines over"! There are a few things that can reconcile to TOS, but far more that can't!
Still to see any Orville episodes, but when the holiday season is over, I'll give it a go.

Orville is fun. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes stupid. It averages out to "Pretty darn good". It LOOKS more like Star Trek than Discovery does. I am curious to see your take on it though.

They've really had some great episodes, a lot of thought provoking stories, too. But I'm waiting for the captain to get hit with some alien virus that makes him speak in "Stewie voice".

I loved orville. I actually am quite happy they're doing season 2 and that they held off on bigger original in universe details of things for lore till they were sure the show would be a success. That's smart really if you think about it. I'm eager to see what they make that is original and/or their own touch to something trek related. All in all the show just rocks, poop and fart jokes aside the shows really get me thinking on different situations. I mean i loved the social media episode!
Discovery for me like others have said misses the mark in 'everything revolves around burnham' BS. The 'relationship' with her and whats his face armory/security guy that's probably that klingon guy i forget his face was painful to watch. The fact that so many of the characters ARE so forgettable is a problem! By episode 5 of TNG or any others i could remember these folks names. Beyond Burnham.....honestly i gotta think consistently thats a problem to me. The ships again need to be redone, supposedly CBS is 'resolving' the canon issues 'somehow' by magic plot devices either the 2nd half of season 1 or into season 2. But why anyone would WANT To make a show that does this is a mystery to me! Also the fact you need to have all access is stupid in north america. Put the damn show on cable and be done with it. Or like orville do both! Fuck i wouldn't care if the cable shows came out a day or two AFTER all access did. Let the cable folks either pay for access 'early' or wait. Orville did it the other way but for me that's fine! Given i don't watch like ANYTHING on tv anymore and little online to boot paying for just one show is nicer for me then forking out for all access only for trek. I wouldn't care IF it was good trek but its not...
I guess we'll see what happens tonight *sighs*

Trekyards just put up a video about the Defiant from Discovery.
Should I check out this continuity? It looks like the defiant from TOS Popped up in the discovery time line at some point.
I'm getting a sense that Star Trek: Discovery borrowed it's plot lines from Mark Furman's transformers run over the years. Is there a Multiverse?

Didn't watch it but, the last episode was a Mirror (aka Terran Empire) episode and the "Defiant" was shown in wire frame only. Kinda, sorta looks like the TOS Enterprise but, not quite...

I might have to watch, discovery is a bit more compelling if it even remotely links to the star trek of old.

Good job they're on the case so well.
Having seen the 1st season run of both, Orville is far superior.
Disco is doable SciFi but it not Trek at all. Aside from the obvious LIE they told about it being "Prime Universe"
