www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MVJC7d7shYBad voice choices, not the best animation, but not as simplified as filmation. On the plus: a pretty good Trek story, nice TOS reproduction, and loads better than JJDrek or Distrollvery.

The series did not have the budget for all the actors, so Walter Koenig was dropped (but he did write at least one episode). James Doohan and Majel Barrett ended up doing a huge number of additional voices beyond their original roles.
It was also animated in Norway (why? I do not know). At the same time Japan was showing "Starblazers" (yeah, I know... "Space Battleship Yamato") and other works that featured superior art and animation - and in 1975, it would still have been cheap to have the series done in Japan vs Norway.
Along with some cool stories (Yesteryear) it had some "Meh" stories, introduced Larry Niven's K'zin into the universe, and had some really dumb stories (that I still enjoyed when I was a seven-year-old watching it). It even won an Emmy!
Despite being really hard to watch (I did manage to get through it last year on NetFlix), it's still better than the Kelvin Krap, Disco, AND Space 1999...

That's not at all what I'm talking about.

Wow... It sure isn't. It's better than I could do... but still hard to watch. I'm not sure it's better than Filmation, but that's a matter of taste.
Still... Thanks for the link. I'll see if I can get through it.

The voice talent is off putting. The animation is ok but not good. The story seems decent.

Hard to watch... the voicing is terrible...the animation is different than Filmation (but hard to say better)

Looks like flash animation and I know a lot of heart went into it, so it's hard to discard it entirely. There were some funny parts at the beginning but yeah the animation I could overlook if the voicing wasn't so horrible. So I wanted to watch it but I felt guilty when I couldn't finish it. It should have been 15 minutes long tops.

It almost certainly is flash animation. I couldn't watch the whole first part...
I do think the story seems interesting, might make a good start for a campaign.

Still more watchable than Disco. At least it's not all wanna-be 3d CGI. I know the voicing is bad, but it's not as bad as this (my anime club made it back in the 1990's as kind of a spoof on all the really bad voicing/dubbing that was going on back then). The DVD I have is better quality that the YouTube video... Compared to Bad Scottish Dubbing, Paradise Makers is not bad at all.

I'm a couple minutes in. It's not that terrible just yet, for me animation is reminiscent of Archer. I keep expecting a bad pun followed up with "PHRASING!!"

Archer's a bit more refined (could that be a "phrasing" moment?) than that but yeah, some similarity.

some sex jokes could liven it up. Honestly they lost me when James Kirk was implying that Bones might be raciss against Vulcans.
I could see that from a superficial level...but I think the truth is that Spock and Bones really admire and respect each other...But Bones at this point will do anything to get under his skin (even calling him green blooded). Spock for his part is amused that Bones would try so hard.
That's my take I know there are a million others. It's something that gets mucked up if you over think it.

Try to look at it like this. TAS was made by a professional animation studio with professional voice actors (and a color-blind director...) Paradise Makers appears to have been made by a few fans on a PC - and actually holds up well when compared to TAS. Story-wise, it's at least as good as the 1st season of TNG and all of VOY. And, as has been established, better than STD.
Believe it or not, the original cast of TOS is a pretty tough act to follow. Look at Star Trek Continues. Vic Mignogna is a pretty well-known voice actor, and a huge TOS fan. Still, the cast of his episodes are ... meh.

The story seems good - enough so, they should consider creating a novel version and submit to Simon & Schuster.
A little refinement and it should be a good read.

I don't know WHY they don't re engineer and release The Secret of Vulcan Fury. Apparently the voice acting was done. The tech to release it as a game or as a machinema now certainly exists.
I guess we have to wait a few more decades for the original actors to be entirely simulated by computer.

Well - there is the issue that Interplay is dead...very dead.
Then comes the "who owns the rights to "The Secret of Vulcan Fury."? Is it the dead Interplay, the living CBS or Viacom/Paramount, or some random someone somewhere that no one has... never mind.

OMG. I just watched a gameplay footage video for ST:SoVF. Talk about uncanny valley! Impressive graphics for 1997-1999 though.

Wow. I've never seen that until tonight! Here we are, 20 years later! I'm blown away at how good that '97 technology is. Apparently this game helped sink Interplay ALOT - there just wasn't the technology for the things they wanted to do. But I have to say alot of the animation is damn good! Far better than "Dark Forces 2" that was released in Sept '97! If only they'd been given more leeway. Maybe the $ ran out!
I'm not saying the game should be MADE now that the tech has caught up. I think an animated movie should be made - someone has the voice acting! I think it's a DC Fontana story.

The issues at Interplay were complex.
Like many game developers back then, they often had too many irons in the fire. Too many projects to handle correctly and too many didn't pan out. This one game is the -very- sad victim of that sad state of affairs...

At least in those days they finished a game before releasing it (mostly). Either it was good, or it stunk, or it was mediocre, but they didn't charge $70 for the privilege of playing a perpetually in development hell/glitchy open beta.

Starfleet Academy originally stunk. The turn rate and speed of the game was ludicrous. We complained about the phasers, too, which they fixed in Klingon Academy. But they did patch it soon enough with a speed slider, making it a capitol ship game instead of a snub fighter game. It really is a very good game, if only it were rereleased with Klingon Academy updates.

I've been hoping GOG would get some of these. They do have Star Trek 25th Anniversary and a few other titles but... alas, no Klingon Academy...
