Greetings, fellow FASA-ites!
Martin here once more, after a lengthy break from the sculpting stylus. I thought you all might like to know that the third wave of Woomera Shipyards miniatures are finally in the process of being sculpted!
There are six new models 'in the pipe' — three Federation, three Klingon — to be released this time in both 1/3788 and 1/3125 scales within a similar timeframe.
Many of you might be wondering what became of the D10, Taurus DN, L13 BB etc., that are available now in 1/3125... weren't they supposed to be released in 1/3788 scale, too?
Well, now that I have completely extracted my finger and got on with it, all the current Woomera designs have been rescaled to 1/3788, and the digital files are with 'Drew at Studio Bergstrom, awaiting their places in the production queue. Not before time!
(By the way, the fault for the delay is entirely mine. Please don't go using any agonizers on 'Drew for the lengthy wait for the L13!)
Right, with that out of the way, here's the first cab off the rank; My variation on the Larson class Destroyer:

(Note: model is not final. Still have a number of details to add, including windows, docking ports, etc.)
Look! She finally has a deflector dish! And that's where the torpedoes are!

Some of you may recall that I'm a disciple of the Church of Probert, and an adherent of "Roddenberry's Rules" (Even nacelles good, Odd nacelles bad!) But, how could I deny the Larson? She's an absolute classic FASA-Trek design. However, I did decide to sculpt an alternative 'twinned' nacelle, wider because, obviously, the missing second warp engine is snugly alongside the first.

Underside view (with twinned nacelle), reveals the twin shuttlebay hatches outboard on each side of the impulse engine assembly. The oval deflector dish juts from the bow of its long housing, which also mounts the forward phaser bank.
One more shot, approaching from the starboard quarter:

The hatches on the after ends of the nacelle attachment points are ejection hatches for the twin warp cores.
Dimensions for this Larson in 1/3788 are 62 x 30 x 13mm. A bit smaller than the stated sizes in the database? Ok, who's got an old Larson miniature and a set of callipers?
However, I confide that I was following the self-imposed restriction of emphasising that this is a relatively small destroyer, not a heavy cruiser main hull looking for the rest of itself. I think I really do prefer this size. Here's a comparison shot with my Loknar:

As you can see, not too much variation on overall dimensions. (Although the Loknar has a thicker main hull.)
In any case, I hope you've enjoyed this preview of one of the wave 3 ships. Next time, I'll reveal the details of the Klingon L6 Defender frigate!
Until then!
