NASA's website posted this today, March 12, AD 2019.
Never before discovered until now, NASA scientists found dust rings in the orbits of both Mercury and Venus. There is also the theoretical possibility that asteroids might be traveling in Venus' orbit.
In other words, there is more junk than we know of in the Inner Solar System.
Applying this to future battles in the FASA game, how would such dust rings affect the terrain in any battle scenario? Good, bad, indifferent?
Opinions, please and thank you.

It would definitely have a negative effect on Cloaking Devices.

Yep - nothing quite like "leaving a wake" when you're trying to sneak around someone!

Maybe reduced beam weapon range?

If you are IN the dust cloud - definitely would "attenuate" your beam weapons a bit. It would probably also reduce shielding effectiveness since they get pelted repeatedly with "rocks and garbage" (apologies to David Letterman).

I've used "dust" as a terrain element before. I had it reduce movement and effect shields. It also diffused beam weapons in both range and damage. Missile weapons were effected in accuracy and plasma weapons were severely curtailed due to the interaction with the particulates.
It's an interesting element in heavy asteroid fields as well, permeating the space between the asteroid markers and the space adjacent to them.
