Verbiage from the original post: Original K'Vort Class Battlecruiser from Yesterday's Enterprise Michael & Denise Okuda June 29 at 5:05 PM www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3136396856397847&id=142375465800016This was my suggestion for the K'Vort-class Klingon battle cruiser in "Yesterday's Enterprise" (TNG). I kit-bashed it over a weekend from a TMP Klingon ship model kit, added three flashlights, and a bunch of plastic bits I got from Kit Kraft in Studio City. I put a brass tube down the centerline of the model to widen and lengthen the neck and to serve as front and back mounts for motion control photography. Rick Sternbach lent a hand, painting on some nice weathering and battle scars. I offered it to our friends in Visual Effects, who were, at the time, working on postproduction for the episode. They seemed to like the design, but unfortunately they felt that the detailing would not hold up in the shots they had planned for the episode, so they ended up using the beautiful bird-of-prey model made by ILM for Star Trek III. Which is how the powerful K'Vort-class battle cruisers ended up looking exactly like the smaller bird-of-prey.

Beutiful designs as always, Atolm, really original, the nattleship is a beauty on its own, and the cruiser in the batlegroup looks like a K'Tinga upgrade or replacement, the last designs are very creative and unespected, wonderful!!
The guys of Star Trek franchise should hire you, to change from their boring and uninspired designs.

Nice ship designs Thanks I definitely like the K-5 refit. Sweet! Thanks! I lam pleased the way she came out as well. Beautiful designs as always, Atolm, really original, the battleship is a beauty on its own, and the cruiser in the battlegroup looks like a K'Tinga upgrade or replacement, the last designs are very creative and unexpected, wonderful!! The guys of Star Trek franchise should hire you, to change from their boring and uninspired designs. Thanks! I am glad you have enjoyed the designs. As for being hired...All I can say is this: There is a weird situation that exists in the professional art industry. They all want 100% originality, 100% of the time. They don't like your portfolio to show things that you love to express, but rather they want to see how "diverse" and "original" your work can be. Now in theory, it is fine (kinda), but in practice, it is a huge fallacy... No artist exists in a microcosm... We are always influenced by something. Whether it be nature, or design, or other person's work, this is how it has always been. In fact now we are more influenced as we have access to the world. Not just our neighborhood or town or city or state. So When your portfolio contains tons of Trek concepts...you will get passed over. Specialization in your work is considered is a huge detriment. They want versatility, not specialization. I love Trek. I love designing for it. It is my muse. Constantly coming up with new ways to make each vessel unique, yet still feel like it fits an established ancestry. Now should people who care about a subject that much be ostracized from that subject? Or should they be "blackballed" from an industry? Art is all about who sees your work and when. Totally subjective. And popularity is all timing (as is all things). I apologize if this sounds so negative or rantty...I didn't mean it to be, but rather it is a truth that exists, and one that I myself, have experienced.
