I am probably going to have to switch that off, which means people will need to use tags to drop in images stores at other locations, vs. directly attached to their posts. Meanwhile, on a more important note: how many people are even using this old forum anymore? I don't want to deactivate it if people still find it worthwhile. But many (most?) seem to have swapped over to using the Facebook group. Please let me know your thoughts. I know I'm new here, but I don't do Facebook. I do use message boards.

I still enjoy this forum.
The Facebook page was decent, but since I've cut ties with Facebook, I still use this forum.

Even though I started a FB Group, I still prefer forums as they seem more "Gentlemanly" and organized than Facebook. Although, on FB, I made a change that helped a bit... I don't post politics. And when people I'm following go Political, I un-follow them (not un-friend). That has really taken a lot of the suck out of Facebook. Also... I found the Farside and Grand Larsony groups.
Still not as good as a decent forum (like this one).

I have to agree, especially on the politics thing. I've never been one to back down from a good debate, but Facebook brings out the worst in people who only want to hear their opinion come out of my mouth (so to speak) and when I try to put forth a thought out, fact checked counterpoint to someone I usually get called a myriad of names (of to which I will not repeat here since my side of the fight is nobody's concern here really. We in Canada have our own political divide). I usually silence someone for a month first. If they are really bad, then they get un-followed but not un-friended (huh, I guess that is a word after all). The forum at least has the option of putting political debate into a separate category that I can choose to ignore at my leisure, which I generally do. Another Facebook annoyance to me is religion. Now I don't care if you are a believer or not and nor do I care to which deity you follow, but I will also unfollow anyone who puts up crap like "Share if you like Jesus, scroll past if you love the Devil". Granted, I don't share anything on Facebook unless it is of the finest cheese.

In connection with the original post of this thread, yesterday I received an email from Yahoo about not using my emails there for a while, and if I didn't want to keep using them, they would deactivate sometime in February 2021.
After logging in, someone on one of the Trek related Groups was talking about what to do when Yahoo Groups closed next month. So in relation to that, I sent an email to all the FASA or Trek minis related groups (Morena, Mustaka, Anth Yards, FASAStarTrekUniverseEgroup etc) I had registered with, reminding them that this forum is still in regular use.
I know that regulars in the Groups listed would know about here, but thought it worthwhile mentioning it to others who might not know about us.
So if anyone here has any other Yahoo Groups they might know of other than the usual suspects I mentioned, maybe send a mass email to them like I have?

Since Yahoo is going to close their groups, give those folks an invite to join us here. Why not?

I'd rather not have to use Facebook, if it's free you are the product. Hosting images yourself is OK and reduces storage, its also a shame to find posts full of broken links especially image bucket which were a shower. I tend to keep all mine on Google photos as they have a generous free quota for images not stored at high quality. I have a shared album for specifically embedding content from here is an example embedded. Also use www.allscaletrek.com/ The Yahoo groups all moved to thefasastartrekuniversee-group.groups.io/g/main/subgroups where they still have the content from the Yahoo groups.

Did not know about the Yahoo Groups consolidating with the FasaStarTrekUniverseEgroup, but DID find them on Groups.io, just waiting for my join request to be accepted. Thanks for that info!

To follow up on the point drkanukie made above, I've found out that the Yahoo Groups that consolidated with TheFasaStarTrekUniverseE-group when they moved from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io were Morena Shipyards, Mustaka Shipyards and Fleet Surplus Depot Zed 15. They are listed as sub-groups of the main Group, and you have to apply to the main Group AND all the sub-groups.

Hi: I know it's a bit of a pain to maintain something, having been an admin myself elsewhere, but these old boards, despite newer systems, are still a great way to meet. I'll use it, if you're willing to keep it going, even if there's a 'cleanup' Thx

I pop in from time to time. Interesting... we have that in common at least. And we both like Star Trek... and gaming...
Other than that however, we have nothing in common.
wait... do you enjoy fishing, boating, or drinking coffee?
