Huh. I never played or read any of the battletech stuff, so I was expecting a little more similarity with the FASA system, honestly. But, hey, conversion seems doable. How many of you guys have had experience with battletech?

No problem.
A 2 in Battletech is 2+, that equates to a 100% chance, or rolling a 1+ on 1d10, or 1-10.
A 7 in Battletech is 7+, that equates to a 60% chance, or rolling a 5+ on 1d10, or 5-10.
So I did make at least one error.
2d6......ODDS.....1d10 2+.......100%......1+ 3+........97%......1+ 4+........92%......2+ 5+........83%......3+ 6+........72%......4+ 7+........58%......5+ 8+........42%......7+ 9+........28%......8+ 10+.......17%......9+ 11+........8%......10 12.........3%......10
I did do all the numbers in the range chart backwards though... I fixed both tables.
In more advanced Battletech, there are rules for varying the power output of energy weapons (Maximum Tech, pg 22), which makes them work a bit like phasers (etc...) in ST:STCS. There are also rules for Missile and energy weapons doing more damage at short range, and less damage at long range (Maximum Tech, pg 23) which gives them damage modifiers similar to ST:STCS.
Also in more advanced rules, Battletech uses Igo-Ugo movement.

How many of you guys have had experience with battletech? I've been playing Battletech since it came out in 1985. It's clunky and weird (and nothing in the game universe makes a bit of darn sense), but I love it. Before the (wide-spread illness) I would run Battletech at nerd conventions.
