They don't get much sexier than the Crusader. The Crusader IS cool, but despite some people saying the Phantom is ugly, I LOVE that design. It just oozes strength, and looks tough as hell!

The F-4 Phantom, America's proof to the world that given a big enough engine, even a brick can fly!
Yes, the F-4 is a beast but, it was a very powerful beast. It often surprised it's opponents by being more agile than something that big should be.

The Phantom is a finely balanced Battleaxe, the Crusader is a Katana. Both very effective and beautiful in their own way.

The Phantom was nick-named "the Golden Brick", because of the expense involved in the R&D, tooling up for manufacture, and purchase price. That price is where the term Golden came in.
It was a "Brick", because of its 1:1 glide ratio. If the plane becomes a "dead stick" you wind up dropping 1 foot of altitude ever every foot of forward motion. She does drop like a rock...lol.
And yes, she is proof that you can strap enough power to a brick and make it do loops with the best of them.
I do love the Phantom!!!
