Well here's something I realized I could have some fun with! Remember that Pearl class mobile repair facility R'Archer captured in his raid? Well the only thing really missing from it was its warp drive! So in an effort to return it to an optional mobile support role, and to use it as a base to build more for the KUSN here is the Ocean Class Mobile Repair Facility!
R'Archer in the waning months of 2268 happened to be looking out of one of the viewports of his personal dreadnought the Vendee. There he saw the Pearl class mobile repair facility he had daringly raided from the Federation in orbit, but while it was back in service in the system and was indeed a needed asset to the KUSN he knew that any true war effort, whether against the Federation or another power would need to support the Unity's fleets. To that end he called up his ship's enginerring staff, pointed to the facility and said. "..Make it mobile again, and then use its plans to make our own! Also add some measure of offensive support!" With no other assignments on hand for them to do the entire crew of the Vendee got to work!
The engineers of the Vendee soon realized their seemingly easy assignment might not be so easy after all. While all other major Federation systems were working the lack of a warp drive system was a big order to fashion up. Added to this was how to add some 'teeth' to the design for later production. The first issue of the warp system was solved by using Orion resources to copy and produce the Federation's own FWC-1 system. The system produced a higher power output which it was felt would need a needed asset. Like other systems slowly trickling into the KUSN the engineer's retrofitted the FWC-1 system to be more fuel efficient as well which gave it its new name of KUWC-1 this gave the facility an unheard of cruising speed for its type of warp 8 and an unimaginable emergency speed for up to a day of warp 10! For the impulse drive system the engineers took out the FIC-3 system and replaced it with an Orion copy of the Federation's FIE-2 drive system giving the facility a bit more power when needed. Like other designs this was modified in house to become the KUIE-2 system. For defensive systems the original FSB system was taken out and an Orion copy of the Federations FSD system, retrofitted for easy of maintenance into the KUSD, was put in place, providing slightly more efficient and better protection then the original system. Putting it off as long as they could the Vendee engineer's finally came to try to tackle how to give the facility some manner of 'teeth' the Federation L-14 computer core was reliable but limited on combat processing capability. The effort involved in replacing it and the costs was felt too much for the team to handle, not to mention the time it would require to take the facility out of its current operational duties which were sorely needed by the KUSN. So with this constraint in mind they kept the L-14 in place, and tried to tackle how to 'arm' the facility. Scouring the scrap yards of the Unity the team were able to drum up several FL-6 laser systems and restore them to operational use. Once more retrofitting these aged systems would allow them to pack a bit more punch then normal while retaining their original range and accuracy. While still quite out of date the team felt the now named KUL-6 system would suffice for the facility class. With their task complete the team rain several trials, finding that the superstructure of the facility and any further produced would need minor structural reinforcement putting the weight of the facilities at the upper limit of a class VII structure. Still in the end after 2 months of work the Vendee team was done and showed their findings to R'Archer. His estimates were well received, while the restored facility was better off then it had been, the construction needs it would allow once more could be built to support the KUSN would be huge having such a speedy, powered, and though primitively armed facility for ships in the field meant the KUSN now had more flexibility in play. After another briefing to the Unity's Congress approvals were placed to produce 1 facility per year as could be allowed.
