So here was an interesting cast off that one of my other college buddies, named Sam took up after hearing about Brandon's use of the V-1. He noted to me what the Unity or someone might do with the single RWD-2 nacelle/system from the redesigned V-1. To this came his design and story for the Mercy Mercy Class VI Medical Transport! However only 1 gets built for now. It takes its inspiration from the TNG M'Benga and like it is unarmed, though it does have a hefty SS reinforcement and solid shielding system and such.
As with other designs before it 2265 gave the Unity a wealth of new ship builders, engineers, and knowledgeable workers from among the received Romulan Outcasts. During some of their construction efforts though a single RWD-2 nacelle/system off the given V-1 came up for sale by these same outcasts to score extra credits and supplies they needed. By happenstance the famous but eccentric Alphonso Fernando De Santa Cruz happened to be there with some representatives of the K'nip Shun Scrapyards. One of them pointed out the nacelle for sale and joked perhaps foolishly to Cruz that here was one system he could not possibly repurpose for the KUSN. Cruz as always took up the boast as a personal challenge, and used all three men's credits to win the bid for the nacelle/system. With it in tow and both accompanying reps unhappy now they returned to the Scrapyards and left Cruz to do what he wanted. Long weeks passed, when finally inspiration came to him when a passing old woman suffered a heart attack on the street where he was walking. The response of the colony's ambulance and personnel which later saved the old woman's life made Cruz rush home and spring into action to design a medical transport for the KUSN!
After another five days of personal design work, Cruz called in his grumbling engineers and slapped the paper design down. At first as usual silence welcomed him, but as the engineers looked more deeply into the idea a bit of interest gained steam from them all. After consulting then for approval with the higher ups among the Shipyard provisions were approved to build a single medical transport for examination for further construction down the line. Within 6 months the now christened HHS Mercy Mercy came into being. The ship was mostly built with Orion laid systems minus the single nacelle on the largely boxy rectangular shape craft. It was certainly not a common seen design style in any known quarters but it fit the bill for a medical transport. Importantly though it was well armored, shielded, fast, and responsive. It also had large capacity for patients and handling emergencies of all types. While no further contracts were picked up the HHS Mercy Mercy was assigned to the Home Fleet by the end of 2265.
