I just clicked on the Yahoo group above and got a 404 error. Does it still exist?

i once wrote what i called a strategic study of ship types that were in service after FYW. My explanation for the Brenton was star fleet was trying to achieve a Constitution refit type equivalent using mature tech. I did this because in my write up, Star Fleet budgets were being cut. I covered everything from big ships to small ships...warships to support ships and so on.

The writeup I wish I could find that started this whole thread in the first place I'm sure had the Brenton class being capable of landing on water if I recall correctly!

From 2012, I posted this. Just noticing RedRom was on the forum a short while ago, any chance this was yourself we were thinking of?

Time for my semi regular bump of this thread! Just noticed RedRom on the forum again today. Any thoughts on this topic, Sir? Hello. I wish I could help. The only thing that sounds familiar would be what I read from Cowboy on his past posts. It sounds like something I'd like to read and believe the Brenton is too interesting looking of a ship not to have a write up. A few ideas for the Brenton perhaps: a hospital, supply, or repair support ship, despite it's armaments. Another theory for the Brenton is: To keep parity with the research capability of the Romulan V6 Gallant wing, Starfleet engineers in concert with Starfleet intelligence (Grey Ghost) came up with the Brenton, named after Abigail Brenton who pioneered earlier warp capability into deep space, lost then resurfaced years later relaying an extraordinary story of captivity and bid for freedom under Orion pirates in an acclaimed novel "Loss and Profit". With its subtle mimicry of the V6 the elongated deck the Brenton features capabilities of deep sea exploration, the space to house research facilities and advanced sensing equipment that far outweigh it's V6 counterpart and most if not all of its Starfleet contemporaries. The Brenton coupled with a more than adequate armaments proves it's value as defense and research as recorded during a routine patrol along the RNZ. A Brenton scanned a V6 with an escort of 2 CS2s. The task group was about to make a coordinated attack but the Brenton was able to make a false front of radio traffic and sensor shadows that convinced the enemy a larger force was on its way. Unwilling to risk a larger engagement the Romulans retreated back across the lines giving enough time to escape.

I kept seeing you appear briefly on the forum, wondering if you were the mysterious 'R' name forum member who may have posted the Brenton version I was originally looking for, but kept missing you!

Thanks for reading my post Trynda1701 and sorry it took me a while to respond. You're welcome. I liked your thoughts on the matter. And don't worry about the reply delay. In my minis thread, there was a couple of times when I had delays of about a year in-between my continuing to post my mini pics on minis for our FASA game!

You know, one of these days, I might eventually find out, and get reposted, the original idea someone posted on the old boards about the Brenton class that I started this whole thread for!
