Hello:
Wondered what the primary RPG Rules system any tabletop or online gamers use here.
Owing to the combat rules, I've used modified FASA for years.
Also, recently came into ownership of Jack Photon's House Rules books, which are a. real labor of love, and excellent, whether you use them complete or just parts.
Keep on Voyaging!

Also, recently came into ownership of Jack Photon's House Rules books, which are a. real labor of love, and excellent, whether you use them complete or just parts. Keep on Voyaging! Do you mean just for Trek, or other RPGs? For Trek, years ago, late 80s/early 90s, I co-GMd a 20 adventure run, playing in alternate adventures, with the FASA RPG system, only lightly houseruled. The RPG lead me to the STSTCS. We used the basic ship combat rules suggestions in the GM book. I then found a copy of the STIII Combat rules. Then, one of our newer players introduced me to the more modern STSTCS Rules. After I'd finished the RPG run I kept playing STSTCS games, including two campaigns (Klingon vs Romulans, 2000 CE total each, and Federation vs Gorn, 840 vs 670 CE, to allow the two refs from the first campaign to play in a campaign). See this thread for the two Campaign setup pages... ststcsolda.proboards.com/thread/904/player-generated-scenarios-ststcs-systemPlayed the STSTCS games consistently into the mid 2000s. I do have the Last Unicorn three core rulebooks (TOS, TNG and DS9), but have never played them! And while I have a lot of the Dechiper books (Core rulebook, Aliens, Planets of the Federation, and the Romulan boxed set), I have only ran one scenario with it, set just after the Dominion War had ended.

Yes, primarily Star Trek is what I meant. Nothing has really replaced the FASA rules for me and my circle, although we've experimented with the Decipher and more recently the Star Trek Adventures. While the Star Trek Adventures is really nice, it's a huge investment, and thre's not a 1 to 1 conversion of anything. More recently we have used the STSTCS for a couple of long-arc ship combat campaigns -- like those you mentioned -- that are the background for the RPG group. Klingon civil war, aggressive Romulan exploration fleets, etc.

I haven't played Star Trek in many, many ages. However, I consider FASA to be the foundation for my alt-Star Trek universe. Although I branch off of that tremendously in some aspects, it's still my go-to guide for how the "real" Star Trek Universe is comprised. And thanks for pointing out the Jack Photon House Rules books... I was not aware of them.

I thank you for the kind words, Icdrrostron. hope you like the work, Steve! Within the last hour I have just released my 4.0th Fantaversary Revision to celebrate the anniversary this month (January 31 = better late than never). I posted an additional thread on this forum with a minimal sales pitch, but here's the link. www.jackphoton.space(PS By 'sales pitch', I mean it's all free for the taking. Hope it helps!)

My house rules thread are a bit out dated. I wrote them in order to expand the fragging nature of STSTCS, so popular with my teenage self, into more of a somewhat RPG, where some civs (koff FEDERATION koff) would prefer to drive their enemies off and maybe even no need to fight! There is also alot more of an FFA element to my games, as each player gets their own civ and the Feds are no longer so OP...

Over the last couple weeks I've been casually digging through some of the oldest fasa trek posts across several forums, looking to bump any good or still-relevant information or materials back into the relative sunlight. As to this post, I want to add that as of now all my Jack Photon FASA Star Trek materials are hosted at the Internet Archive where they can be previewed online before downloading. The only downside is that the pdfs are what I consider to be medium quality and there is no sorting them, so they are haphazard in order of upload as opposed to relevance to each other or importance. These pdfs make excellent on-screen viewing, but personally I would prefer to print from higher quality versions -which are available from my website on this page specifically. www.jackphoton.space/html_jp40r/downloads.htmlSo if you like what you see at the IA, grab them there or get the higher Q version from jackphoton.space. Live long and dice on
PS A side note is that at IA you will also see some AD&D pdfs. These are a side project under the the nome d'plume "PhantForce, A figment of your Imagination." While my Trek is House Rules incorporated into the main rules, this AD&D work is a straight re-compile of the original books into better order. For example, combining players handbook, unearthed arcana and Dragon errata into one. Alphabetizing all the spells into one. All three monster books alphabetized into one. Dungeon Masters guide and UA into one and so on. All re-ordered, no more searching through stacks of books and magazine articles. I've even collected every version of all 37 1st edition NPC classes from Dragon, alphabetized.
