brilliant work on a tough ship to totally visualize. A lot of clever solutions to some of the shapes.

Great work again. Although the design is odd with those downward 'scallops' making no sense, you're making this design look good!

Yep - there are quite a few oddballs in the FASA mix of Feddy ships. They had a fair number of logical designs but, then, there are those...strange designs that didn't make much sense.

Unusual ship, but I really like the way you modeled yours. Although I thing it would fit better on later eras, it still looks cool. And about accuracy, there is no way to model any FASA design to be correct in all angles, as thre substantial differences between the views, I am having the same dilemma with some designs I am working it, and had with my Klingon D9. I liked your designs choices, I thing that they improved the model, and make it looks better.

These models are one of my favorite features in the forum. This one in particular, just looked so...un-trekish. Seeing it built up like this gives you a better sense of it, kind of want to see it flying alongside the armada in DS9 now!

Wow. That is crazy awesome praise. Thank you rabid. I've set myself a goal to model every ship in the FSRM and this is one of them. Some of them are really hard to do right. It will take me a looooooooooong time.

The aft and lower starboard angles really look the best to me. What can I say, I'm an aft man.

I know you gave us links to previous renders, but I for one would love to see these up on Brads site in addition to the original FASA schematics and Brads and Neale Davisons' various redraws.

I've got a bunch of ships in various stages of completion. I skip from ship to ship as I gain and lose inspiration. I just started work on a Sketchup version of the Z-3 War Falcon, designed by rabid and given a face lift by Atolm.

As far as the Federation, in the Kirk era, goes: these are your big boy assault ships, they can land almost an entire regiment of 3,200 marines in 30 minutes, using the combat loading principles. Three ships of this class can land nearly the equivalent of a division of marines (combat forces). They would of course be accompanied by escorts and other ships to land the rest of the force, but for combat forces, these ships are the best the Federation can throw at you...
With the various classes of assault ships, the Star Fleet can delivered a measured respnse....
the Kolm-An class can land a specialized force of 250 marines to be a response force or the shock force to take the LZ for a larger operation.
If the situation needs a measured defensive response, send in one to three Makin class ships with escort and a small supply force. A combat force of 1,600 to 4,800 marines, a light brigade you might say...
And for the heavy work, send in from one to three Continent class ships with its escorts and supply force. You would be delivering from 3,200 to 9,600 marines. This would be a fairly good Expeditionary landing force...
Given these ships, Military Operations Command, can deliver a good response or put its own invasion force together with a good likelihood of success...
