Sketchup Larson Class Destroyer

I'm got to admire your Sketchup models. The Larson is especially lovely, although I'd be tempted to add some very restrained detailing to the outer surface of the warp pylons.

Wasn't that red one supposed to be Von Richtofen or something?
I recall reading something about that over 25 yrs ago....

The red one is the U.S.S. Richthofen from the Federation Starship Recognition Manual.

Federation Starship Recognition Manual said:

On Stardate 2/1502, the USS Richtofen [sic] was recalled for an engine refit and scheduled maintenance to shipboard systems. As the ship's refit and maintenance checks neared completion, spirited Ensigns and sympathetic workers painted it bright red in honor of its namesake. Star Fleet Command has decided to leave the ship this color despite the breach of regulations, though all Ensigns were mildly disciplined. The vessel is still in service and is assigned to the Klingon sector.

The ship is listed as the USS Richtofen in the SRM, but in my model I corrected the spelling of the name which is properly spelled Richthofen. I just thought it would be fun to paint her up since she has character. And it was fun!

Ok, I was looking at those pics above and thinking, "Hey! I'm pretty sure I did more work on that model." So, I decided to go take a look and, sure enough, I had done more work on both of them! So I snapped off some renders for you guys.

That's what the first ship should have looked like on "Enterprise" hahaha.

Now I want to get hold of one and paint it red.

ummm one question .. on the underside .. those 2 small curved lines on the rear ( saucer ) .. i think those would only be on the constitutions class ships since they would appear to be waring stripes for the location of the warp drive for small craft manuvering under the saucer so they dont just arc up and into the drive units ..

It's possible that's what they were intended to be, but they only kind of line up with the warp engines. I leave them on there cause TOS federation ships aren't exactly loaded up with details and any little bit helps.

Again one of those ships from the Great awakening that helped hold the line during the Four Years War. all those attributes the Loknar has can be applied to the Larson as well. this ship has its weaknesses but in groups they can cut an enemy force apart.

Once they got the new weapons at the end of the FYW, they just proved to be one hell of a warship.

I do tend to like this class a lot

Same as the Loknar, this ship is shown in the FSRM with both TOS and TMP nacelles. This ship however never receives an upgraded warp nacelle in any of it's versions. Regardless, I decided to mock it up.
