That's the potential COVID cure no one is going to try.
Just waiting now for politicians to come to their senses and open stuff back up.
Also watching morons on TV complain about how many cases there are in the US and idiotically forget to mention we have tested more than anywhere else at this point. Of course there are "more" cases when you actually test!
When people aren't tested then the true infection rate can't be known.
But thanks to testing the case fatality rate has been established to be lower than it was thought. According to the CDC it's closer to 1%.
As a result, I'm not in the conspiracy camp but I think the lock downs are either a Bolshevik type power grab or because the elite political class are in the high mortality window for COVID so all of this hullabaloo is about craven self preservation.
Sure they can let COVID into a nursing home but for god's sake keep it out of the governor's mansion. After all they are more valuable than us.
Sorry woke up a little salty.

Covid has kind of turned into the "Check Engine" light.
You freak out at first, but after a while you're like, "Whatever. I just gotta go to work."

The protests are awesome. The riots though?
We're safe but someone put a brick through my car back home while my wife and children hid terrified in the closet. Out here in the sandbox there is a random arsonist setting fire to trash dumpsters.
One of our Soldiers back home got arrested for destruction of federal property.
What stuns me is the reckless abandon of the beatings. Assuming the most submissive posture possible for a human doesn't stop them. People have been maimed while in the fetal position or prone and unconscious.
But hey at least the riots stopped the stay at home orders.
This is what makes me despise modern "liberals". You want to protest the COVID lock down? Then go to jail. You want to burn and loot? Not only do they apply the laws unequally the democrat governors make excuses for it.
This isn't worse than the Rodney king riots but it's more wide spread. Unlike Rodney king at least these aren't based on a lie.

Protests here. Very few of them were wearing masks. I still support them, but C'MON! Now we'll have a spike in Covid-19 among Affercin 'Murricans (that's how we say it 'round here) because of maskless gathering.

COVID is transitioning into the "endemic" phase. The restrictions are unsustainable as all the upheaval shows.
God politicians are retarded.
First no one who wants to be on charge should be allowed to be in charge.
Second since it's a popularity contest any sense of ethics is out the window. Politicians are thus mostly incapable of leading and I think this shows they are too incompetent to know how to build consensus.
People should get to be in each public office no more than twice. This shit is ridiculous.

Not to get too political, but I'm thinking this will do in Mr. Trump. I can't see any president getting re-elected in a year with â–º Impeachment (half of one, anyway) â–º A Pandemic â–º An economic Depression caused by the Pandemic. â–º Riots (which may result in the dissolving of Police Departments in major cities)
Now the Democrats think they have an easy ride to the White House, and they might. I'm just concerned about what will happen when they do what they always do; fail to deliver on their utopian promises.

There are no Utopian promises (and I know all too well what "Utopia" actually means).
At this point, I suspect 2020 will be a disastrous year for the Republican party. They will NOT take back the House, will probably loose the Senate and will pretty much definitely loose the Presidency.
If the Democrats don't deliver true "change" when they control the whole thing (save maybe, the Supreme Court), they will likely take it on the chin during the next major election.
Personally, I'd like to see both established parties get spanked really hard - and then maybe replaced by some that won't (at least for a while) play politics with the country when things really need to get fixed.

Well, the Democrat party isn't a progressive party. Their slogan should be, "We're not as bad as the Republicans" cause that is what they aim for. They want to be as conservative as they can and still get the progressive vote. Look who the Dem nominee is! Joe Biden? Of course the Dems aren't going to deliver on their Utopian promises. At best it will be a milk-water administration that undoes some of the harm Trump did in his 4 years.

That's insanity and most people aren't buying it. Trump is still in the game. As for harm trump has done more to prevent war than any of his predecessors and I can prove that. It might be changing soon though.

Sorry for turning this political. I meant to say that pretty much any president, under the current circumstances, would be looking at losing the upcoming election

Checking in again and hope that you are all keeping as safe as you can. Especially if the pandemic cases numbers are still high in your home country.

Here in lovely Georgia, we have tested 2.2 million people (a little over one in five), and about a 10% of them come up positive for the virus and another 8% are positive for antibodies. Of those who catch the virus, 2% die from it.
So... The odds of any person in Georgia dying from this virus is about 0.16%. That's way better odds than skateboarding. I do wear a mask however. 1. They seem to work. 2. They help with my allergies. 3. I can mouth curse words at co-workers and they never know. 4. I don't need to shave as often. 5. I can wipe hand sanitizer on the inside of my mask and walk around buzzed for a while.

I think people are still freaking out because they don't understand "pandemic". I'm fine but the wifey is dealing with this insanity back home and my boy got exposed and had to be taken out of school. This stuff isn't going away any time soon. It's like probably another 5 years before it settles in. Brace yourselves! I haven't been wrong (so far).

Wow! What a day in the US. Trump and Melanie test positive for Covid, said to be self isolating in the White House, but now he's being transferred to Walter Reed Medical by Marine One, 'as a precaution', as I type!
Stay safe, people.

He's not immortal. As president, he can't really sequester himself like Mr. Biden has.
Biden has been a bit circular... He says we can't reopen the economy until we have the virus under control, and blames Trump for ruining the economy by closing everything down (in order to control the virus).
American politics has always been kind of a mess, but for the past 20+ years it has been a total shit show. We all deserve better than the options we are given.

This just highlighted the double standard from the political class. Masks for thee but not for me. It's clear that as a group they think they are above COVID, even after Herman Cain.
He's not my favorite president but I hope he pulls through. I can't believe he can have it and people hope for him to die. So wrong.

Well... For all those out there who think they don't need to take some precautions to avoid the dreaded virus, maybe Mr. Trump's current circumstance will smack a few people up-side the head.
I doubt it... but anything is possible.
