Years ago, I asked how people used Federation Space in their STSTCS games, as I used a combination of the larger "Star Trek Navigation Maps" scale by Geoffry Mandel and the FASA layout, as seen here. < ststcsolda.proboards.com/thread/257/federation-space-ststcs-gameIn that thread, zookman said he had a copy of a more detailed FASA Map that someone (possibly the late Ratonpier?) had created, that took all published FASA planets and put them all on the one map. Does anyone else have a copy of that map they could supply me? It might have been available on one of the FASA Yahoo Groups, which of course are no more! (Didn't want to resurrect an eight year old thread, so thought I would start this new thread. ) So, can anyone oblige? Thought I'd ask, it might also come in handy for other creators here like brickwall, rabid, steve and steven with their recent new creations.

I have all the original FASA maps from the RPG sources. Alas they are back home.

I have all the original FASA maps from the RPG sources. Alas they are back home. Oh, I've got all the original FASA publications myself (finally got the "Debt of Honour" scenario a few years back). The map I'm talking about was home made (I'm sure it's on graph paper), taking ALL published FASA planets and putting them on the one map.

Ok, after a few questions over on the FASA related Yahoo message lists, I've found the map I was talking about. Thanks to Bryan Jacko and Lee Wood for allowing me to post this work of the late Kevin Oyer (aka ratonpier) on the forum here. Judging from the answers to my original Yahoo question, this map was compiled by scouring all the FASA supplemnts and adventures, and extrapolating the locations of planets mentioned in scenario booklets, perhaps with descriptions of directions or distances from known planets, but without having actual listed co-ordinates! Amazing work! With Yahoo Groups closing on the 15th, I found that four of them transferred over to the Groups.io site. These are found under the heading of TheFASAStarTrekUniverseE-group, and include the other Yahoo Groups from Morena Shipyards, Mustaka Shipyards, and Fleet Surplus Depot Zed 15. groups.ioThe site works very similarly to the old Yahoo Groups, with email messaging and other similar features. Register for the main site, then search for the FASA groups there. You will have to request membership to each of the four Groups. And the map shown above can be found in the Morena Group files section. Hope folks find this useful. Regulars here might already know about this new site. Still, for newer forum members, there's lots of interesting titbits in the files sections!

I've sort of gone away from the older maps, though I have used them in the past. I've been using the Stellar Cartography map, which...lacks detail, but it gives the player on my primary crew a good idea of just how vast the distances are. This has left it much more open to mapping missions on the edges of whatever frontier we want.
Thanks for posting that map, though, very handy!

When you say the Stellar Cartography map, is that from a particular website? I've seen a few websites over the years between the Geoffry Mandel "Star Trek Maps" from the 80s being published, and the more recently Paramount published "Star Trek Charts". Which map/website are you referring to above?

The maps were physical ones: These, published a few years ago: www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Cartography-Starfleet-Reference/dp/0760363811You can get pdf versions if you don't want to keep paper maps around. Yes, they're similar to the Mandel maps. Used those some years ago, too. I do like the map you posted, it's where a lot of campaigns center -- the ever troublesome Triangle region.

Ratts map is a fantastic piece of work but most of the real stars are not in the correct position or distance from earth. I've tried several ways of fixing this but distance and position change cause a whole mess of problems.
