It is great to see the continuing interest in FASA Trek. I personally believe it is tho only one of the Universes in the Trekdom that tried to achieve a continuity.
Welcome aboard everyone.....

Welcome on board, ZeroG! If you get lost, just remember to touch the panel along the corridor and the computer will point you anywhere you'd like to go.

Has anyone else had issue with the Proboard since the last upgrade. For a few months it was letting me in, but no matter what I do, it will not let me log in. I keep going in a loop that the Proboard see's my account by e-mail and user name, but when I log in, I am still listed as guest. Will not let me create a new account since my e-mail has already been used. So much to say....unable to communicate. AAAAhhhhhh!

Hello, I'm Russ and I'm new here.
I've been playing FASA STSTCS off and on (mostly off) for about 25 years. I'm from Minnesota and have lived within the Twin Cities for most of my life. I have a great love of all things Trek-related. I played the game a lot out of highschool but since then haven't found a lot of people interested in playing.
I recently moved and found my old gaming materials (along with some fanships) and was re inspired to play again. I found this site after a brief internet search one day and here I am.
Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Hi Russ. You sound like me. From NC myself though. I wish I had more time for this great game system.

Hey localyokel,
I am generally able to find time to play, but I don't know anyone locally who would be interested.
Thought I might be able to find a local player or two here, but I haven't seen any sort of resources in that direction; though I have found the site itself to be a great resource for fun new designs for play.

Thanks to the wonders of the internet you don't have to have local people to play any more. There is a program called Vassal that you can use to re-create any board game, and there is a STSTCS module for it. Using Vassal you can play the game with anyone, anywhere. Vassal EngineSTSTCS Module

I see we have another couple of new forum members. If you're new here recently, and haven't already done so, why don't you tell us about how you got into this little game from FASA that we all still follow? What's your favourite Empire? Any new ship designs or mini pics you want to post in your own design threads, feel free to do so in the relevant sub forums. Welcome aboard! Mark

Hi, I'm Dexter and I seek peaceful coexistence. I became interested in FASA just around the time it was losing its license. Despite Paramount's ultimate rejection of FASA, I think it is clear that FASA did some good work, and that FASA's power was a threat to Paramount. What we are left with is a Star Trek that was heavily influenced by FASA, even if FASA was ultimately left behind.

Totally agree, Dex. I think Star Trek "stole" alot of FASA material - at least to the betterment of Trek!

From what I see alot of the STO stuff for the klinks and rommies is ripped off of fasa, mixed with known canon attitudes/things (more so the rommies)

Exactly, just like they stole from Franz Joseph and used his work like a crutch, and then tried to disavow him.
Which FASA designs do they use in STO? I couldn't find anything about it on google.

The Romulan starbases are obviously inspired by the F-2 Nestar

The cultural belief stuff for the romulans and somewhat the Klingons too also echoes of FASA material. One or two of the rommie ships also look close to FASA shis.

So how does Vassal work exactly. I downloaded it, installed it, downloaded the STSTC module (3.5 I believe) and I'm not getting it. The Screenshots are wonderful, but that's not what I'm seeing. It'a all mumbo jumbo to me. The Wiki was less than helpful and had me more confused than before.
Ok. Messed around with it a bit and started to make some progress figuring out how it works. I was expecting more online support, like a ship sheet, stats and the like, but I take it that is the players responsibility off the computer, I.E. has the ship sheet in front of him.
I take it its a bit more honor based, just like if you were playing in a group around the table.
I was also looking for a fire button and some neat graphics, like in Jason's computer game. Does it do that or am I missing something?

No, it is literally a board and some markers. dice can be rolled in the chat window by clicking on the dice buttons. If someone were ambitious enough to do it it would be possible to make MSDs in the vassal mod, but I don't think that's been included yet.

Hello all I'm Keith and been a Trekkie since the original show. I would be up for play of this game via Vassal/Skype. Been aware of this site for some time but only joined the forum recently.

Which designs of the Klinks or Romans do they use? This is extremely interesting. If the official Star Trek stuff now is using FASA, then there seems to be a general acknowledgement of FASA's canonicity.

Not new, but more of an old hat making yet another comeback. Dallas 'D-Rock' Reinhart. Been away awhile since I no longer had a FASA Trek playing group but now I'd like to make light contributions.
Also got to thinking about this site and wondering whatever happened to it lately. What triggered it? Seeing Brad's "A Chaplain's War" on the shelf at my local Chapter's (excellent read BTW!).
Got no drawing talent but I can write and whip up ships like a demon.
