I like what I am seeing, but I don't add many fanships to my collection. I have tested some for people, and came up with rules for use of some special weapons and so on
But this is good work

Thanks! It's not completely new as it's a "refit" of a previous sheet tweaked for the new art but I'm hoping to do at least one more from the series. Plus, I've got a Star Trek Adventures sheet waiting for the appropriate 3d model that I'm anxiously awaiting. I only use the stats from the construction manual (except when the engine power differs from the Recognition manual entries) so no custom rules or special weapons. I was really on the fence as to whether I should change the torpedoes in the front to the KP-3 (same as on the D-7M) as the triple launcher is a bit much up front even if the total WDF isn't bonkers.

Thanks again to JAFisher44 here for coming out with another great TOS model for sketchup. While not technically fasa related, I figured I'd put in a plug for the Star Trek Adventures sheet that I made using his model. As always, the full sized image and pdf versions are at the link below.

Hey folks, it's been a while since I worked on trek stuff for my blog but I lost my mojo a while back after being unable to start or join an STA rpg group. Recently for unexplained reasons, I got the urge to start kitbashing ships together again and came up with two. Neither has an official stat sheet yet although I have crunched the numbers in spreadsheet form so I'll have to update the thread here when those are ready. For those in the facebook group, you've probably already seen these as WIP progress posts so apologies for the repeats.
The first ship is my take on the D-10 that fixes most of the minor quibbles that I had with what otherwise is one of my two favorite FASA ships. I enlarged the engines, sloped the primary hull, and added a true impulse engine deck up top. Thanks to Tycen/CaptainMojo for putting up the 3d model toolkits that I've (ab)used to make these designs as I'm not a 3d modeller myself.
The second ship is more of a joke design which is appropriate given the "inspiration". There's a certain cartoon that recently came out and I decided to see if I could come up with a TMP era FASA version of it. I've decided to name it the Dorritos Class VIII missile destroyer. It's not an exact copy but I did try and hit the overall design asthethics using era authentic parts based off of pictures from the internet as I haven't watched the show.

Thanks. Obviously it's just my takes on existing designs but it's the extent of my "artistic" talents!

My latest blog post (link in the sig) has all you need for the D-10M and Dorritos classes that I previewed above. For the first time, I've included the downloadable 3d models as well as the stat sheets and counters.
I had fun making the Lower Decks retroFASAfied ship so decided to do another for an STD ship that I thought was one of the better ones (i.e. approaching OK), the Malachowski Class. I imagine it's an alternate refit for the Anton Class in FASA for vessels that for whatever reason aren't being upgraded to the Miranda/Reliant Class. Thanks again to Tycen/Captain Mojo for his parts kits that I used to kitbash this conversion of the Malachowski model! I should be coming out with the usual stat sheet and counters next week and will update here when I do.

Thanks! I've been tweaking it a bit more tonight making a version more akin to the original Malakowski and less of a Miranda tweak. They're both derivative obviously but I'm not sure yet which one I prefer. I figured I'd work on a second one that was more "unique" at least in the FASAverse.

I personally prefer the left one. Although right does fit the Anton backstory better.

I prefer the right hand one. As @phelan says, it fits the Anton lineage better.

Thanks for the feedback! I've actually been shying away from the Anton lineage thing with the tweaking of the model (whether simultaneously or as a result of the change I'm not sure!). I've decided to go with the version closer to the original Malachowski overall shape and give the class a separate workup. In practical terms, it means that I'll be doing a full independent sheet with a new background/fluff text as opposed to the simple stats only half sheet I typically do with a new variant/refit. Here's the final version of the model that I'll be using. It's not a huge change from above but I've reworked the size/shape of the saucer to be less oval, tweaked the size/position of the nacelles, and gave it a small secondary hull with a rear shuttle bay that's mostly flush with the underside of the saucer (only really visible from below/rear). I envision it as a light to medium cruiser (class IX or X) in the early TMP era.

I wasn't really up on all the ST:D starship classes, but you're right, that original Malachowski design is a lot closer to the original TOS basic design ethos.

Yeah, it's one of the only two original designs (the revamped Connie doesn't count!) from the show that I thought had potential. Obviously it still has the STD asthetics but the core design was decent IMO. The other one that I thought was passable was the Shepard Class.
I actually put together an NX era version of the Malachowski as well and I think it fits in great there too. I didn't bother posting it here or in FASA groups since the rules don't cover that era.

Well, I came across another disco-ish ship (not sure if it is actually from the show though but it has the stylings) that reminded me of the Akira class in TNG+ and I thought I might be able to finally make a TMP-ish version of it with Tycen's digital parts. Any thoughts? Is it akira and/or TMP enough? I wasn't going for an exact translation of the design (I'm not capable of that anyways as a kitbasher with no actual 3d modelling skills) but rather something inspired by and obviously reminiscent of the Akira.
edit: I've tweaked the model a bit last night after posting this initially. I mainly made the model slightly more compact and thickened/enlarged various details and parts for printability and tabletop durability.

Thanks! I've been working on another ship both in terms of stats as well as a printable 3d model. Howard Day recently put up his WIP video turning Bill Krause's Wasp class into a TOS ship. I really like his end product and he made the model available (as well as gave permission to tweak it) so I'll be coming out with a Shepard Class (the name he gave the ship) escort for the TOS era. I've already stat'ed up Bill's Wasp as a later destroyer so I'll mix this one up a bit.
My tweaked version so far:

The release of the new FASA 3d model pack by CaptainMojo/Tycen on thingiverse includes a bunch of lesser known and less loved (by most including me!) designs along with some cult favorites (like my personal fav of the Ranger class). One design that frankly I've never liked but I suddenly saw some potential in when looking at his 3d version was the Brenton class. I decided to hack it apart and glue it digitally back together (since I'm decidedly NOT a 3d modeller myself!) and came up with the version below next to his official wide body original. The superwide body felt excessive to me and was a large part of why I didn't like the design back in the day but I did see promise in a more restrained version of the same design cue.
I've also been trying to think about how to differentiate it from existing designs. There isn't anything in the Federation SRM as it's one of the half page tech/stats only entries but Tycen's 3d model has given me an idea to turn it into a TMP era aircraft carrier of sorts for Starfleet. His 3d model has two small forward shuttle bay doors and I added on a back piece that has the large Reliant style cargo doors in the back as well to create what effectively could be two side by side flythrough hangers traversing the entirety of the ship with a central maintenance portion in between where the cutout is in the front of the saucer. Obviously this doesn't really affect any FASA stats as shuttle swarms aren't a part of the tactical game but I think it would be cool for roleplaying reasons.

Well, I finally got off my lazy butt (figuratively... not literally since I was still on my computer!) and uploaded some remixes of Tycen Hopkins' FASA ship models on thingiverse that I've worked on in recent weeks. First up is a 3d model version of an Excelsior kitbash that I'll call the Excalibur Class for the FASAverse. Second is a slimmer version of everybody's (least) favorite double wide Federation cruiser that I've dubbed the Brenton Jr. class. If you print either one out, please post a pic and let me know!

Thanks! I'll have to adjust how I do it in the future though as my "student" copy of the program I most often use is expiring so I may be more productive in the near future but then have a lull as I figure out how to use something else.

Before my program license ran out, I made sure to put together this last set of 3d models. A couple weeks back, CaptainMojo on thingiverse published his alternate Oberth pack and I decided to do something similar with the Klingons and Romulans. I present my Mirror FASAverse battleship pack with the L-13S with improved warp bubble dynamics and cloaked Z-1AF Nova models. Enjoy!
