Just wanted to say hello and thanks to Trynda1701 for letting me know about the forum. Although I've long used Brad's site as a resource, somehow I missed the forum section. I've chatted with some regulars here as well as even asked a few (like Atolm and MacrossMartin) to use their ships on my stat sheets so hopefully I won't be too much of a stranger. For about the past year or so, I've been posting unofficial ship stat sheets of various fan ships that have caught my eye and whose artists have graciously allowed me to mess up their images into 1980's FASA style art. Recently, I collected about a dozen or so of my TOS era sheets into a single TOS era fanship recognition manual. I've also got some TMP era ships on the blog as well and will hopefully add more to come in the months ahead. I also have some 40k hobby content as well as house rules for other tabletop games like Robotech and Heavy Gear as well. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for all the kind words! If anyone gets to use some on the tabletop, please let me know how they do (and I'll get a kick knowing that someone used them!). I don't have any willing local opponents so it's more a theoretical hobby making them rather than practical, lol. Such is the life when supporting a game out of print for longer than most current gamers have been alive!

Damn! Great work. I would love to get a few of them onto the table. I do hope you have some more Klingons and Romulans to go with the couple you had.

It's been almost a year since I posted my TOS ship sheet collection so I figured I'd bump the thread with an update finally. I've slowly been working on a few FASA stat sheets since and have added the Javelin Class I Warpshuttle, Ares Class VIII Frigate, and Klingon D-15 Cruiser up on the blog linked below. I've got a few more sheets to come over the next month as I'm hoping to update my collection to a 2018 version as well so stay tuned. For those interested in the new Star Trek Adventures RPG, I've also converted some ships from various sources into that game as well (including some from FASA). sitzkrieg.blogspot.com/2017/02/shields-up.html

Now in game play, I try to avoid most fan ship designs, but i will say these shops were fun to look at...Great Work... Thanks! For what its worth, my ships are made up with the official Construction manual rules only and don't use any custom equipment so they shouldn't be any more fair or unfair than the official ships if using the WDF/D for balancing sides.

I put up a new ship on my blog linked below, the Pioneer utility light cruiser from Star Trek Online. I've converted it into both FASA and Star Trek Adventures rulesets with full size image and pdf versions.

Thanks to JAFisher44 I was able to update my Pioneer class blog entry with a second sheet for STA using his 3d model for the art for those who prefer that look to the classic orthographic drawings. I've also added in my second ship in honor of the fine men and women of the Ops division in Starfleet.. the FASA classic Derf Class Repair Tender for use in the newer STA rpg. I created two versions of the sheet: one with a more familiar FASA look and the other with JAFisher's 3D model on my revamped version of the official TOS ship sheet.

Forgive my ignorance, but what ruleset do these designs use?
Those pages look professional - very well done!

Forgive my ignorance, but what ruleset do these designs use? Those pages look professional - very well done! Thanks! Although I can only take credit for a small amount of it as I mainly assemble it together from other people's work. The STA sheets are rearranged versions of the official ones for the game by Modiphius and the FASA ones are from fasaststcs.com. As for the ship images, I ask various artists if I can use/abuse their work for my sheets. I'm a bit more fluid and still figuring out how I want the STA ones to look like and I think they'll look different for each main era but the classic FASA ones I try to do as close as possible to the originals warts and all. I take pretty pictures of newer ships and try to change them into that thick black border b&w fasa style.
The sheets I most recently posted were for the Star Trek Adventures (STA) rpg by Modiphius. It's not a ship battle game per se as an rpg but they do have rules for the players to customize their own ship as the setting for their Star Trek RPG campaign. The pickings were very slim for the TOS/TMP era so I figured I'd try to flesh them out a bit with various ships both fan created and previously official but not disavowed (like FASA).

It took a while but I finally stat'ed up M. Christopher Freeman's Attucks Class for FASA STSTCS. I've kept the aircraft carrier aspect of the ship in the backstory (and it is loaded with 20 shuttles/fighters) but I classified it as a frigate instead for the purposes of the tabletop miniatures game.

Nice writeup. I was going to say you should have troops instead of passengers, being a frigate, but the Loknar frigate doesn't have troops either! I'd have liked to see your take on the Mk.I laser armed version.

Thanks. In the original version, I actually did have them listed as troops. I've always envisioned the "passengers" portion of the stat sheet to be more theoretical as opposed to what is on the ship at all times. I figure the pilots of the fighters are Starfleet and therefore listed under the crew rather than as separate troops similar to aircraft pilots on carriers in the navy (and different from say marine landing craft which have troops and crew). YMMV. I considered doing the original Mk I but I've found through trial and error that I can only fit two different marks on a sheet without the font of the stats getting uncomfortably small. If you go through my original writeup for the Sentinel, the blog post iirc still has the 3 mark version whereas my compilation SHIELDS UP! book has it paired down to just two.

I want to get another Romulan ship plus maybe another Federation one at a minimum done and I should have enough to justify a 2019 edition of my TOS manual. I've only got a few TMP designs and the official books are filled with them so that's why I focused mainly on TOS instead. I've considered some total conversions of other eras (resetting the names but using the same stats) but getting a consistent set of artwork (let alone a consistent one that I can actually make look like the old FASA art) for the ships I need is difficult given that I'm not an artist myself.

It's been a while since I updated here with a proper FASA shift but I finally got around to incorporating one of the reimagined DISCO Klingon designs by atolm that artbraune commissioned for full orthos with Sean Tourangeau. Thanks to all involved for allowing me to muddy up their art into something befitting an 80's black and white FASA ship sheet! As always, the full sized image and PDF version along with hex counters for the tabletop are at the link below.
